    That slip ended up 420m wide and took out the Double Hill Run Rd. It's always been a creek crossing but faark it moved some shingle this time.

    Nah, the local rag had an aerial shot of it today but I can't find it online.
    I've been up the hills and seen a similar thing on a smaller scale, theirs a lot of clay & sand mixed in with the shingle up the Rakaia, so movement like this is reasonably common with a decent rain.

    Impressive sight. Wouldn't want it to change course too quickly on you.

    The old MSC saying, "Don't cross if you can here rocks moving." would be easy to interpret.

    Saw it up the Rakaia couple days ago.
    Had a similar experience up the Jolly after retrieving a Tahr.
    About 4 ft wide flowed for 5 mins from above me and down. My sidiling across the scree set it off
