    Stop Thief..!

I moved house last Thursday. Before I moved I thought to myself, sod's law - whoever is coming out to vet my gun safe (not yet having my FAL) will phone as soon as I've moved. Sure enough, Saturday morning I get a phone call to let me know he's coming out Tuesday evening. I'm obviously excited so think right, got to get the newly purchased gun safe installed. Go looking for my tools as I need to drill holes in the safe - look through the house three times and begin to wonder if I'm losing the plot because I can't find the box with literally every single tool I own in it... I ask my wife if she's seen it and she tells me it was definitely on the moving truck but hasn't seen it in the new house. I look through the house, garage, every cupboard (even places it couldn't possibly fit) and it's nowhere to be seen... Thieving bastards - it's gone! Now I've got the guy coming out tomorrow to interview my wife, me and to check out my gun safe. No tools to install it and pretty pissed off. I hope whoever nicked it gets whatever money they were after - there was probably around $2k worth of tools all up...

Yep, with 223nut, if it went missing from the moving truck, have them up about it.

Yep tackle the moving company. But that doesn't solve your immediate dilemma. Just tell the vetting officer what happened.

you need to report it to the Police too. Otherwise your insurance company wont be interested in any claim

Thanks All - yip, reported to police and had a discussion with the moving company - not that I got very far with them... Also spoke to the vetting officer, explained the situation and he kindly provided a solution to keep the application process ticking along which is good news. Just need to get it sorted out through insurance now!

Would you care to name the company if it is a national carrier so that the rest of us have fair warning?

Naturally I understand completely if you prefer no to

It's a company local to Dunedin so being in Wellington you're all good. If anyone is moving in and around Dunedin and wants to know by all means send me a pm - I'm pretty sure it wasn't the movers though...

Opportunistic thief is my best guess. Watched for the moment nobody was at the truck and simply lifted it... we're having a mare claiming on insurance too. Those fuckers are bigger thieves than who does the physical stealing.....

I know that feeling. We had a small fire at home in the beginning of december. Put it out with an extinguisher. Scorch marks on the carpet and curtains, couch got burnt and a black scorch mark on the roof, total damages around the $10k mark all up, and 75 days after the claim was lodged the loss adjuster is still dicking around. I actually feel for the insurance company as I ring them frequently for updates and all they need to settle and sort this is a a report from the loss adjuster. It is the insurance companys fault in the end as they should be doing that in house, but we are the ones still waiting....
