So you have never shot service rifle?

its a bloody long read ,but this is the on i often speak of where gundoc did his thing and Christopher cahills chaotic companionies head shed proletariat got a big verbal arsekick.
this was just the first leg of the R lincoln vs crown (police)double-where the police it appears in horse racing parlance didnt even beat the sunset past the winning post,mr lincoln&gundoc were probably watered fed and bedded down for the night .
yes its the same mr lincoln who featured in the ashburton Police version of how the case was one....or was that two???.

Thanks for the link. I had read it in the past, read most of it again. One passage stood out:

"Mr [David] Gray also had literature about war. Against that background both parties agree that there was a concern that features of combat weapons could appeal to the wrong sort of people."

Why not just not bring it up and make an issue out of it at all?

Yes and no. Yes, using an issued G3 back in my late but still impressionable teens in the 1980s in my European homeland, preparing for our Russian neighbours. No, I've not considered taking up service rifle shooting. It's a great thing for those who do so as far as I'm concerned, notwithstanding my pessimism re banana mags.

Because there are no five round revolvers you can use for IPSC in NZ.

    Let alone three round revolvers.

yes and theres a very salient elephant in that room-David grays fucking mental state .its well documented people had concerns at his bizzare behaviour-IMPO-he was probably vivdly psychotic with grandiose paranoid delusions long before this ever blew apart, and lets face it theres plenty of this nazi shit about to feed these delusional states.
Had someone had a word in the right ears ,maybe just maybe things could have turned out different. In saying that though hindsight is always a valuable commodity.
stan graham ,brianschaab ,stephen anderson -all mass killers call with verified mental illness at the time of the incident.
people need to be aware and if neccesary say something,or do something.thank christ mental health professionals are now placing more emphasis of firearms aspects in a potential clients backgound alth ough that not as consistent as i like .
me id like cahill and co to poke their noses into the proposed mental health enquiry and urge for this to be enshrined in law, especially the mental health act .twice this year on the coast ive had FALs revoked ,the other alas an arrangement was made ...........tragically later in the year that youngster placed a bullet through his own head.

Yes, the standard forms used by Emergency Psych Services in Southern DHB now include some tick boxes re access to firearms. Probably the same ones you use.

In regard to suicide prevention, like all things, the really determined will lie and can anyway use any method, from the car over the bank to the Roman bath. Those who do wish to debrain themselves only need a Sumpak made with two pipes, an end cap, a cartridge, a small ball bearing and a square of sellotape. So don't beat yourselves up over the ones who got away and ended up using a firearm. The dead have no concerns, as Stalin cynically but correctly stated, rather it's the lives saved that continue to matter.

And yes, there's a lot of much poisonous, if I may use the word "evil", neo-nazi material out there for the paranoids to malnourish themselves on. Definitely a warning sign to find stuff like that dominating someone's bookshelves, although much reading is "invisible" online nowadays.

An interesting vid from the USA regarding California's proposed restrictions against >10 round mags which got temporarily halted in court in July. Arguments against outlined, some of which have cross-relevance for NZ.
