    "Tanks" for the memories

An associate spent some time at the Sandstone Heritage Trust which looks after old trains and track, located on the South Africa / Lesotho border.

The S.A. Armoured Museum was present too. He took these pictures:

Eland Mk7 armoured car ("Noddy Car") - South African modified version of Panhard AML. Knocked out several T34 T54/55 tanks during its service in Angola thanks to its 90mm gun and high mobility.

Rooikat (Afrik: Caracal) AFV - this replaced the Eland Mk7 (albeit too late for Angola). 28t, 76/105mm main armament 120km/h road speed, 1000km range. The weird looking sticky outy things are proximity sensors for the LEDS-150 active protection system.

    Interesting pics, they're missing a G6

Was a medic on Alkantpan testing range when the rooikat was going through trails.

Eland was extremely cramped inside, designed for small Frenchmen

The AML (like the Galil) was modified specifically for this reason, the resulting Eland actually offered (not much) more space to the S.A.'n soldier...

Weird looking stick outy things. Is that a technical term Ryan?
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

I suppose "protrusions" would have sufficed - a rare moment of sentence construction laziness...
