    Tenancy law

Anyone up with the law ? . My apprentice is getting reamed by a property manager (bitch) . Telling them to clean mouldy ceilings in a uninsulated leaky house . Paying big money for it as well

Have they been given a 'notice to remedy'? Makes it hard if they have. You can do the same in return if they have been told of the leaks and not repaired it.

Tenant is meant to keep the place "reasonably clean and tidy" but the landlord has responsibilities as well, like ensuring the place is up to spec for habitation. The mould thing is easily remedied by using a squeegee type floor mop and/or cloth and elbow grease. As a student years ago I rented a hollow block flat and cleaned the mouldy walls with janola diluted with water. Stank of chlorine for a bit but the mould disappeared. Mould is a real health hazard.

If that is the case, the landlord MAY be in breach of tenancy laws. The home must meet certain standards.

I had 3 young proffessional boys rent a house off me years ago , the ceilings in every romm were mouldy when they moved out because they wouldnt open any windows and air the place out. Probably not the landlords fault

Yep. Seen that. Waaay back when I was a tenant, I kept places spik and span as a matter of pride. Now I am a landlord and have an excellent relationship with ideal tenants. Should they move on, I'd sell the place. Reason? Too old to be bothered with hassles.

If they ever move on, send them my way, I've never met an 'ideal' tenant yet! Had two tenants in the two years I've been into landlording and ben to court three times, won every case! So hard to get, is a good tenant, that my home has been untenanted since February... a complete waste of f%@#n time!
