That's it. The world has now finally turned Christmas to Sh_t

I could not believe it. Fired for refusing to hire women to be Santa Claus.....

    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-...ts.html?auto=0

Out with the old and in with the new.

After five years of appearing as Santa Claus in Auckland's Farmers Santa Parade, Neville Baker will apparently be replaced on Sunday after he said he wouldn't hire women to play Father Christmas.

The My Santa Director told the Herald on Sunday that he feels it is his responsibility to hire those who will give and authentic representation of a traditional Santa Claus.

"It is my responsibility that the people hired to perform the character of Santa Claus are able to be as authentic as possible in order to provide the best possible experience for children."

"For those reasons I have no plans to change the way I operate my business in the foreseeable future."

As a result, Farmers announced they would no longer by working with the My Santa company.

"We are distancing ourselves from this company. We found his comments to be inappropriate and unnecessary and will be not using their services for the parade," said Chairman of the Children's Christmas Parade Trust Michael Barnett.

However, just days before the event is set to take place on Queen Street, Baker has not been informed of Farmers decision to discontinue their relationship and he intends to show up and take his place on the float tomorrow.

"I'm not aware to any change in my arrangement. It's news to me I've got no communication of that," Baker said.

"I will be attending the parade on Sunday."

A Human Rights Commision spokesperson said that sex is a prohibited ground of discrimination under the Act.

But, under a number of circumstances, it is not unlawful to discriminate on the grounds of gender, if a role involves counseling on personal matters, or a combat role in the armed forces.

Kids enjoy the belief that Santa is a real man who lives in the North pole If they then sit on a womens lap who is pretending to be Santa then they will know it is a fake Santa. If they insist that it is acceptable to have this occur perhaps they should consider that they are now lying even more to these kids. I would rather tell my child that Christmas is not real than tell him that santa is gender fluid. (now there's a term that boggles the mind???)

If it wasn't so sad it would be funny enough to put in the jokes / campfire thread.

I believe in equality with gender and pay difference but there are some occupations that are gender specific... Next we will have males as models for women's underwear

Bit like the gay pride parade. They didn't want the coppers in there as they still discriminate (general description), now the whole lots come down and other supports have shot them up for being too anti.

Mind you if they employed chick santa's like this one, I don't think there would be to much protest from the dads at least

For fuck sake it is Santa not Santess.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Sad indeed, @timattalon. Even Jack Tame mentioned "PC gone mad"; this from the most self-consciously PC dweeb in TVNZ-land. Christmas has long been a sore point for me. Taken over by retail commerce. Anyway, I will never shop at Farmers again. My grand niece will be so pissadointed at the loss of another illusion. Fuck'em.
