Things to check before buying rural block

Looking at a rural block that borders onto regional council land (pine forest).

Other than getting a lawyer to give advice on the title deed as far as covenants, easements and interests are concerned, what do you guys recommend ?

Check the regional council / district rural zone rules ?
I heard previously that you can check if there are any records of poisons/hazardous substances on record ?

LIM report. Go talk to the neighbours about any issues they may be aware of.

Yes Lim report, any paper roads etc that Regional council make have legal right through the property.

Have a squizz at wams.org.nz to see if there's any paper roads crossing the land in question.

Will they ever need to access the forest through your land in the future?
What long term future plans do they have for the forest area?
Regional councils are not renowned for weed control of their land, but expect you to maintain weed control of yours.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

Zoom in far enough on WAMS and all the purple bits are paper roads.
