Things to do in Palmerston North

Well, next month I'm being dragged up to stay for a week while wife has work to do. I'm after ideas/things to do/see during this time. Going to have 3 kids in tow, so probably help if it more interesting for them. Must be something around that is a "must do"
I've talked to a fella at work, and he reckoned the best sight to see is the town in the rearvision mirror. Not sure if he left town, or was run out of town.
Any ideas, or do I just drive around. Cheers

The guys from Palmerston North are still making a list, errr I think. You could drive to Masterton for the day, but better to stay in Palmerston

What ages and interests do the kids have?

    The rugby museum/Te Manawa
    Foxton and Himitangi beaches
    Manawatu Gorge track
    Wind farm
    Kayaking the Rangitikei river
Hunting if you can dump the kids into daycare
Usual suspects of laser tag, paintball, indoor karts

Beaches aren't to far away about 30-40mins good fishing at the river mouths or just playing in the sand.

Yip good point, Not sure as it went up for sale last year. Also just down the road in Shannon is Owlcatraz, farm yard type zoo.
