    Tinkering with maps

Most of us are aware of the many different maps available online that assist in planning our adventures (Google Maps, WAMS, DOC, Topomap, etc). After getting annoyed with having to chop and change between them to get the whole picture, I've decided to do something about it...

I've built a small webpage that combines it all, plus some other info that's not so accessible on other sites unless you really go digging. It's very much a work in progress, but take a look, and let me know what you think. Tell me if it doesn't work on your browser/OS/tablet/whatever, or if there are other features you'd like to see.

All the usual disclaimers apply. No warranty regarding information accuracy. If you get lost, or suffer some loss, it's not my fault, etc.

Yep. Can't do much about that while it's hosted in my Dropbox folder. Nothing sinister - just click the silver shield on the RH side of the address bar in Chrome and allow the scripts.

Looking forward to trying it when I get home in the morning. Work computers will not let me follow the link...

When you look at the Desert Rd area it is surprising how much earthworks has gone on over the years, tracks all over the place.

This is fantastic! I'm the mapping guy at NZWAC so its great to people using our map feeds outside of WAMS!

If you need anything, please let us know if we could be of any help whether its technical or support.

Scratch that Firefox was blocking access to it. All good now. Functionality seems fine. Good work mate.

Any chance of adding a few of the older topo layers from: MapsPast | Current and historical topographic maps (topomaps) of New Zealand ??

I'll see what I can do. Good spotting - I'd forgotten about that site.
