    US guns vs Doctors.

    Just for fun

Doctors vs Gun owners in the U.S.

    Doctors
    A. The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
    B. Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000.
    C. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services.

    Guns
    A. The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million.)
    B. The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
    C. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.0000188.
    Statistics courtesy of FBI

SO statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'
FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but almost everyone has at least one doctor.
This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor than by a gun owner

    To kick a hornets nest

    Hazard = Risk X Exposure

My question would be how many people interact with Drs in the US each year compared to the number of people who interact with guns.

Rugby leads the list of sports injuries claimed through ACC - NZ Herald

Apparently rugby has the most sports injuries. Think skiing/snowboarding used to top the list but that has obviously changed.

Pretty sure the most common 'sports related' deaths would be drownings.

I would hazard a guess and it is just a guess that more people interact with guns than doctors by a large margin in the USA

    Other way round -
Risk = hazard X probability (chance of hazard occurring)
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....

I dont have much time for most Doctors,
To me its the only trade where you can charge the punters for every visit whether or not you actually fix the problem and if you make a cock up then your mistakes are buried and you just move on to the next punter

My guess would that this would skew the result. The rich wont worry about guns so much and they can afford medical care, hence they are more likely to die of "medical misadventure(?)". The less affluent have guns but cannot afford the medical so will see less doctors and therefore will not die from medical misadventure so much but rather their ailments will get them......

If you are exposed to a doctor with a gun, be reallly concerned! That increase your chances of dying :-)

Like when getting a prostate check? I dont like the thought of the doc holding a gun in that circumstance.
