    Vehicle rust repair

Wondering if anyone here has any good advice or can recommend any products that I can use to repair rust in my 4x4.

I know that the best way to get rid of rust is to grind/cut it out and replace it with new metal, but that is not always possible or practical.
My brother in law suggested I use a 3M rust converter that you use to convert surface rust to something that wont carry on rusting, then paint with a good thick paint,
but I am a bit skeptical about that method. I have seen other products that are meant to eat the rust away, but after some research online came away thinking can possibly do more harm than good.

Anyone have any tried, tested and proven methods of dealing with rust.

Should probably add that it's mostly surface rust on steel, but some slightly deeper exfoliated rust areas also.

    Many thannks

id grind it back or even a wire brush on a drill and see what you've got if its got lots of holes your better to put new steel in especially if its around body or seat belt mounting points theres a really good paint you can use on it ill have a look tomorrow at work and see what it is

Blackguard is a good product. Have you failed a WOF due to rust or just doing preventative maintenance?
