Want to buy 4-6 man dome tent

I (the missus) am wanting to buy a large dome tent, like a two room one, big enough to stand up straight in. A summer tent.

Have been looking at Kathmandu and Kiwi camping tents, but because its looking like we are guna spend $500+ thought id ask for options, opinions and thoughts on good and bad brands or makes.

I have always thought of Kathmandu as being like the Briscoes of camping/tramping but their tents look quite good.
Haven't heard great things about Kiwi camping tents but they look like they are built pretty well.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

I have had a Kathmandu "retreat 280" tent for about six years now. It has seen a lot of use and has stood up to it all well. You would need a bigger one than that for a family but this has frequently slept myself and three others on stretchers comfortably. Best to buy when Kathmandu are having a sale.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Thanks for that Rushy, the Retreat 280 is one we are looking at, will most likely only be used by 2 or 3 people, but nice to have some extra space if needed.
Have you had the tent up in much wind and rain?
The 280 is on sale at the moment for $700 which is a big saving but still not a small amount of money, so want to make sure it'll last a little while.

i saw some Tporpedo & before Christmas and was very tempted. But my missus is a "Glamper, not a camper" so no go on the tent front.......

    Something like
    https://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/...-invert-6-tent

    https://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/...-invert-8-tent

This place looks more like the Briscoes of sprots gear. Khatmandu is probably more like Farmers etc......

So Kathmandu stuff is pretty good then? For the price point anyway.

Yes I have had it up in some pretty foul weather and it has not ever leaked (bug go me that is more about getting the spacing correct for the fly.

Sorry. Meant the T7 tents. Wouldn't surprise me if they all came out of the same factory anyway.
