    What is it - guessing game.

    I do a little tool restoration as a hobby, and pick up a few odds and ends.
    I've found a tool I have no idea what it is.
    Anyone shed some light on the subject?

    its the tool used to fit coax connectors onto heliax cable. this is usually used in high power radio transmitters such as radio stations.

    @gonetropo

    You spoiled the game by giving a correct and mundane answer !

    I was hoping for something really exotic

    It appears that you are very accurate.

    well i did build and maintain radio stations
    the good old days when provincial towns had small stations rather than a casting from auckland with local commercials.

    it was used on high power high frequency units, thats why the inner of the cable is hollow.
    the higher the frequency the more the wave likes to travel across thing not thru them. it also does not like turning hard corners so all radius bends in the cable are pretty huge

    There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!
