The corries were a legend in there own life time. It is a great tribute to them that they composed what is now regarded as the scots national anthem.
They were one of my mothers favourite bands. When we were young If they were on tv it was compulsory watching
I'm sure you will have heard this one The Brick Layers Song

On my maternal side my grandfather was a Scouser of English and Irish descent and also shifted here after WWI. My grandmother was a mix of English, Irish, Dutch and French. So there are links to the Green Isles too. My maternal grandparents were known for playing music and singing together in clubs in Christchurch. They were very in love. My grandfather died after playing a 'set' in town one night while my grandmother was at home with the young family. My mother was 8 at the time and was sent up to bed early. She did sneak downstairs to see her mother in tears at the piano playing 'their song'. My mother was in tears when she first heard this when I popped the CD in at home.

Hearing that often brings a tear to mine too. There are a number of old songs of significance. They remind me of my family history. Just wished someone had handed me some musical genes.

It wasn't my fault. Campfire humour made me do it.
