??? What are these objects ???

Evening all - got a couple of odd things floating around the garage - want to know if they are treasures or just biff them out.

First thing looks kinda like a old film reel - the two sides can spin, very heavy - cast iron I'd say.
Second are two telescopic type tubes - the centre silver screw is standard thread, but the brass end is reverse.

    Anyone know what I've got?

Both related to fencing I reckon. The first pic is or could be a wire spool which would have been set on a stand in the back of a pick up or whatever for easy unrolling. The second looks like a wire twister. If you take it all the way out then pull the two together I reckon that eye will revolve doing a nice twist. Could well be wrong. Just my opinion. Jok.

Certainly the round thing looks like it was meant to twist wire together.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Top two are not for feeding wire. A spinning jenny looks completely different.

My though was a fly wheel

Really ? for twisting wires together or for some form of winding? Its not that big only about 23cm across, don't imagine it would hold that much wire...

They don't hold wire, they twist the strands together to make cable.

Thats highly likely what it will become if it has no value - will just wind a big bolt in through the middle of it on the side of a stump where we sight the rifles in

What do we know? And what the hell is a gong? I bow to your greater knowledge. Jok.
