    What are your thoughts on....

A law change that would allow a tightly controlled range to be established where C endorsement holders (and police/military) would be allowed to test fire their automatic firearms. Reckon the public would have a fit if an MP proposed such an amendment?

    it is it sure is
how ever I must say my 5 year old loves it when she drops 17 rounds of 8mm blanks in 2 seconds in her Starter pistol
end of day is Full auto not as accurate as semi auto so why ban full auto?

I presume the reasoning behind that would be sheer volume of fire in a confined space with lots of people would result in a higher chance of a hit.

@Ryan is most definitely right, how many people being killed each year by c class guns? vs a quad bike or three wheeler on the farm or down the beach?

Correct me please if im wrong, but all army ranges are certified for all the above, and the police can classify any training area or range they are using for the appropriate firearm class. Getting access to military ranges now thats another story.

It would be a disaster unless there was proper training for people to go along with it.

Fully automatic weapons are no more effective than the first round out of it if you don't know what your doing.
Even then it would require an area the size of the 2 major Army training areas to have a safe template.
I personally wouldn't get behind it being allowed in NZ. But if it ever was, I would be buying a Thompson as soon as I could.
