    Yet another wet bus ticket

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/cri...llous-response

It (the car) swerved towards him and knocked him off his bike. The driver came back and asked if he was okay.

Woollgar, 56, told the young driver that he thought his leg was broken.

"Serves you right," the driver said.
n the Wellington District Court on Friday Judge Peter Hobbs told Joshua Levi Rowlands, 23, his comment was callous.

Rowlands had been driving in breach of his limited licence terms, unaccompanied and without displaying an L plate.

Rowlands pleaded guilty to those charges and causing grievous bodily harm to Woollgar, with reckless disregard, "reckless in the extreme", the judge said.

Rowlands was sentenced to 10 months' home detention, 200 hours of community work, disqualified from driving for a year, and he was to pay $5000 emotional harm reparation to Woollgar. He has to take treatment programmes and counselling as directed.

    WTF???

With a weak punishment like that, you'll be hearing of this perp again. Maybe a death or two next time.

I crossed paths with Sean Woollgar last year via mutual friend, we were in Nelson filming some promo footage at a hop farm.
I heared the full story about this incident as he walks with a severe limp now with one leg shorter than the other, he’s a really nice fella with quite an interesting life story though his past working for EMI, Discovery Channel and BBC etc.

The guy that ran him down with his car was also wearing a home detention ankle bracelet at the time of the offense.
