    .22 Shorty

Hi all, about a year ago I brought this fully suppressed and ported (so shoots HV bullets at Sub-sonic speeds) .22 for shooting around home for birds, rabbits, etc and being nice and short it fits in my Can-am nicely.

I always found it shot well enough for me and never tested it to much on targets but it normally always hit what I needed and if it didn't I would just blame the distance and trajectory of the sub-sonic.
I have always found reading on this forum about some guns just don't like some ammo and you should try different ammo etc etc but always thought it was a bit over the top for me and my little .22. Well I have just about finished my second box of Blazer Ammo (the big 525 value packs) and went of to get some more but they had nothing in stock so walked away with some Winchester Power-Point hollow point 40 grainers and thought I would have a bit of a play today. Now I am by no means a good shot but just enjoy shooting and this was my findings.
The shooting platform (normally just shoot of the steering wheel while sitting in the seat).

    The range (48 meters)

A few shots with the Blazer ammo

First shot with the Winchester ammo

Then a 5 shot with the Winchester ammo

So all in all im glad I had a wee play and will be using the Winchester from here on.

And please there is no need to comment on my writing and spelling skills as I already know (my old school reports make it very clear).

Had one of those fully suppressed shorties for a while too, handy wee things being so compact eh!

I went back to normal suppressed 22s though for versatility of ammo, I like supers to be supersonic instead of everything becoming a sub.

Subs become really slow subs! Don't know how slow, but the difference in drop was noticeable. Never tried hypers through mine that I can remember.

The operative word with subs would be 'plops'

I have always used Power point ammo I find it groups really well and hits hard.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

As gravelben said, subs become really slow, would be keen on trying some hypers. I'm impressed on how the whole thing works really.

I am starting to think a normal .22 would be good, but I have enough trouble working out what to take shooting as it is so another one in the cupboard won't help me

i have the jw15A which i think is a copy of this?? it doesn't have a ported barrel, just the over barrel suppressor so it doesn't alter the speed of the pill. A mate had a savage shorty and it was slightly quieter than the jw but the jw gives you more options i think

Think CCI claim 1640fps for the stingers and quikshock, so if it only loses a coupla hundred then they will still be supersonic.

ive also just picked up a jw15 shorty with suppressor .its a bloody sight easier to get in &out of the gooserolla (pathfinder) than with ye old toz 17.actually both are a bloody sight quieter than my airrifles. the only subs ive ever had issues with are the remington ones .the old toz is generally very catholic in her tastes(you could probably fire hardened goat shit if you could reload .22s) those remingtons tho -phut .bang phut bang bang phut-some i reckon i could beat to the target -aint i aint no sprinter!
speakin of old .just refurbed a couple of big banger airrifles for sons mate and chucked an old bentley 4x32 scope on one (a scope ive used for over 30yrs faithfully).
laddy bucks fiancee gets a weatherby eyebrow shootin the beast and scope reticle suffers major fatal malfunction >RIP faithful scope! bloody rifles are built like .458 winchesters
