    22lr sub amo

Recently obtained a 22lr. Have shot hundreds of rounds through it on targets and rabbits/possums. Started with Winchester sub 42grain which was very consistent in noise and accuracy. With out realising bought the 40grain version, and have been disappointed with the lack of consistency of noise about half are supersonic.

Was wondering what others have found to be the best bang for buck with super sonics and the beat place to buy from?

CCI subsonic have been the most consistent for me without costing too much. Usually $130-$150 a brick.

i shot the winchester 40gr subsonic stuff solely for many years until recently. i experienced the same as you, having some supersonic and the odd super quiet round so after asking around i swapped to the CCI subs. They are rated about 30fps slower but seem to be very consistent so far being most of the way through the 100pkt i got.
If i could have a full time job shooting pests i'm up for over time.

When I had a 22 I found even some CCI were louder than others in the 40G subs and certainly some were not subsonic

I hear you about the Winchester 42 gn vs 40gn . Two of us are shooting Tikka T1x's, same barrel length, and the only difference is the ammo we are using. Mate using the Winchester 40 grain has a lot of subs going supersonic. I'm using th 42gn subs, and they almost always stay subsonic. When I get one going supersonic, it's an indication that I'm overdue on a barrel clean.
Only went to the Winchester as the CCI segmented subs were unavailable. The CCI segmented subs were accurate, and reduced the ricochet risk.
Nearing the end of my stock of Winchester 42gn subs, so will probably look at the standard 40gn CCI Subs, and also try the 45gn CCI subs (comparatively expensive). Reason for not going back to segmented ammo - I have a pointing tool for putting in cavernous hollowpoint, which so far is proving very effective on small game.

Are you aware that you should try about a dozen different types?

And I am quietly confident fiocchi subsonic is made in the same factory as Eley so pick the cheapest if it works

CCI standard velocity seems to be very reliable for sound performance - I have one of the hollow pointing tools and it's the work of a few minutes to put a 50-box through the die once it's set up.

The Winchester subsonic in the red plastic packets pedalled by GC is rubbish, hopelessly inconsistent, cycles well through the 10/22
