308 Ammo
So going for a hunt tomorrow and Tuesday, running out of time so went to pick up a box of supeformance 150 SSTs, bit hard to buy when not on the shelf! Was recommended 130 HP from Belmont, few boys have tried them and accuracy supposed to be ok. Terminal performance also good. For me this is a bush load so zeroed at 100 meters.
Couple at 50 then tried 3 at 100, couldn't sew any holes on the paper so was hoping they were in the black. Was short of targets and thought I would patch it, took 3 patches and only needed one as the group came in under 1/2 an inch, pretty not bad.
Be interesting to see how they preform on Fallow and heres hoping I get to find out...freezer getting low on Venison!
Anyway if someone looking for something a bit different to try, maybe give them a go. Anyone else tried them and thoughts?
Cheers

Yep used to use them. shot very very well.
quite Fragile projectile should be good on fallow, would think twice about busting a big red on the shoulder.
Here's one recovered from just under the skin after penetrating both shoulders of a yearling red at 200-250y (can't remember exactly)

The 130 gr Speer hp is a load now loaded by federal for the Australian market.
If that company decide to go that way, there must be a reason.
I did load some to test fire a friends rifle not so long ago and cut a nice three shot clover at a 100m with them.
With careful shot placement you can't really go wrong with that bullet. Otherwise stick to the federal/ hornady/Remington 150 gr loads.
