    Accuracy after using lead bullets.

Is this right? To maintain accuracy using cup and core bullets, you need to clean barrel back to bare steel after shooting lead bullets.

Is it really that critical, anyone experienced this? Obviously I do clean but not necessarily that well.
Could solve an issue I have.

I was told that when I first started shooting and being young and impressionable have never deviated. There's only 2 rifles where I do both now and the clean is several passes with a parker hale bronze brush and a wipe through with a turps soaked rag. Why a ph brush? because the bristles are shorter and stiffer and the brush is longer so it scrapes leading out better and yes sometimes I have seen tiny bits of lead come out into the lino

My 45-70 will shoot jacketed or lead bullets very well but mix them up and nup, inconsistent results

I was shooting heavy lead projectiles for sub loads out of a 308. Found going back to standard projectiles accurracy was affected. Gave it a soaking in kroil & patched out with some brass goldyloks wrapped around it, over a white sheet. Was amazed at the lead removed. Did it again - kroil then JBs & never bothered with straight lead again. Shoots well.
Have also done this to old 22lrs, first 3 or 4 inches breech is where they gum up, instant improvement. Seen guys improve a shot out rifle by shooting projectiles impregnated with cutting compounds, if not grouping, thats extreme but nothing to loose to get a bit more accuracy out of.

    Accuracy after using lead bullets.

Yeah it’s common advice going between copper monos and lead jacketed bullets. Some report it doesn’t make a difference in their rifle but then some say it does. Only one way to find out I guess. I use the eliminator cleaner and a nylon brush. You can see all the copper coming out as a blue colouring on the patches

I just recently started powder coating. But it's all academic now. Looking like I will lose 3 or 4 firearms with another "steal back" announced. Arsoles
