I think the increased availability of products that are suitable for long range makes it seem easier to go out and shoot long range. I think it's just as difficult and requires almost as much skill and knowledge as it always did to actually make consistent first round hits on small targets in the field. Some things have improved, e.g. ballistic apps, and way more factory rifles and ammo that will work well.
Not to mention it's a lot easier to shoot Longrange from a good flat sturdy rest with a good shooting angle in good conditions as opposed to tricky swirling wind and steep angled shots with less than ideal shooting positions.
