Nice article all right, much to digest. This thread is also pretty interesting https://www.rimfirecentral.com/threa...project.99009/ if a little less academic.
I will soon have three dead modern rifles with 20" hammer rifled barrels and pretty good to outstanding triggers. Of the three one is a proven consistent sub 0.3 at 50M performer, one with a bit more practice will make 0.4 and the third is yet to be tested.
I have a range of ammos 2nd tier like Eley Club, with a wee selection of top shelf ones and the old standbys like CCI SV ( new stuff and the Hornady boxed stuff). I'd like to shoot 30 rounds per rifle, chrony every shot and "shoot for score" probably using a 30mm bull on a 100mm gong at 100M and maybe 200M using a 80mm bull on a 200mm gong. The aim of the exercise being to compare how many misses the cheaper ammo will cost you gong shooting at longer ranges.
I've come to the conclusion that shooting high performance 22s at 50M doesn't tell you enough . . . And I have 8 spare weeks now
