Best place to get heavier .223 rounds?

Hey all, not sure if this is the right section but anybody got suggestions on where is a good place to get some of the heavier grain .223 rounds suitable for hunting from? Gun City isn't so great for anything other than the Barnall stuff. I'm thinking 62 grain +.

I'd like to get some to see how they run through the AR (1 in 7 twist, 14.5" barrel)

    Cheers

tried 75gr amax in the t3 but they wouldnt stabilise 3 inch groups at 50m, 1:8 full length barrel. 50gn seem to be doing ok but they are a little lightweight for anything bigger than a goat, just as well i go for head and necks

Winchester 64 also shoot well in my 1:8 AR. Used to use Federal 64 in the blue box but it does not seem to be available now. Instead there's 2 versions of the Fusion 62 gr. You want the "Fusion MSR" (modern sporting rifle) optimised for short AR barrels, faster than the regular Fusion. Reloaders Supplies in Auckland have it listed.

I once bought some Fiocchi ammo from Serious shooters loaded with 69gr SMKs.
From memory blackhills have a good selection of projectiles, I've seen blackhills ammo at H&F a few times.

I've used Fusion on things before and it seemed to knock them down good! I'll have a looksie for that. That 69gr sounds good as well. If I am taking a shot on deer it will only be at about 100m I think to keep the velocity up since it's coming out of a 14.5" barrel.
@deer243: Do they make AR's in a .243 do they?

    Cheers guys

Yeah guess so, may need a custom made barrel is all. I guess the gas system would still work ok.

All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

Best pill is 65gr Sierra. Outdoor Supplies have some I think. Reloaders are out of them. Alternatively 62gr Barnes.
