Hey all,
I’m assuming that if someone had a (previously) a-cat M1 Carbine that they wanted to keep as part of their collection and not send to the crusher, that they could permanently disable/block it up and she’s all good to keep as a display piece?

NZ Police do not recognize deactivated firearms and regard them as live. This is at odds with the Arms Act, and I have been deactivating and certifying guns as 'non-firearms' for many years. I have had a couple of visits and threats of legal action from the Police but I have continued to do it, and I am still here! When I certify a 'non-firearm' rest assured that it is completely incapable of being rebuilt, despite looking totally original externally. A mate of mine did this with a 303 so that he could display it legally. Arms officer never seemed to mind but who knows these days.
