Yeah mate my sense of humor is completely out the gate :)

First shots. Perhaps 6 Creedmoor would've been a better choice? With my very limited selection, factory ammo has so far not worked.

What other factory ammo can you get there? The Barnes 95g bullet is shooting for you.
I have used the standard .243 a fair bit on red deer. The 90 grain Ballistic tip is a good bullet, and the old 85 grain Sierra HP driven at 3200fps still does great damage. Biggest stag I ever met dropped like am armful of wet towels to a little .243. His head is on my wall.
I had no idea there was anything to debate about the .243 on deer until the internet came along. I am still waiting to come across that pig that .243 bullets bounce off that Nathan Foster knows about. That's a pig I'd like to meet.
:D
I was raised on similar lore and our legislation permits only the smalles deer to be shot with it. Then I met professional deerstalker who used 243 their entire career... I tried the 6 XC before copper became a requirement, it dropped the red deer as hard as anything else I've used. And it was just nice shooting a low-recoil rifle again; I see no point in using my 6.5 PRC anymore - the the point it's no longer scoped.
According to the Norwegian importers, new rifle sales caliber 243 is next to nil these days and lately I've been to shops that simply doesn't stock 243 anymore. I managed to get my hands on Federal Premium 85gr Trophy copper and Federal Premium 95 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip; didn't go to well. I can also send for the Hornady 90 CX (copper) and Hornady 90 ELD X (bonded lead) which I think I'll do. I have to order more Barnes bullets anyway.
Bullet selection for reloading is no problem, but I kinda wanted to avoid that.
6 Creedmoor was also considered, but my gunsmith didn't have the tools and only a limited stock of factory ammo available.
Gimp shoots a 6 GT and it's more in line with what I want (little powder, lower noise in silencer, low recoil and sufficient punch) but the logistics behind that was plain expensive.
That’s disappointing. Norway now requires copper for hunting or is this for when you go to UK?
Similarly I now find the larger calibers obnoxious to shoot and in any event unnecessary on deer. It seems to reflect a sea change that is occurring. Only sentiment saves my bigger calibers from a cull. My 257R Kimber is hanging in there and is as big as I need - like the .243/6mmCreed for others.
My .223's and 22 Creed hold a special place.
25 creedmore has me interested as well.

I got my first 243 last year, a sabatti with open sights and wooden stock. Always has considered it a pretty vanilla calibre. My mind has been changed especially with the 100gr fiocchi it's been eating 2790 might not be super quick but it's bloody efficient. It is noisy though still it won't be suppressed as the open sights actually work with my eyes
