Thread: Gong indicator

Has any set up a flashing light so when a gong gets hit a flashing light goes off.
I want to attach a sensor to the back of the gong and run a very thin wire to a small light to indicate a hit.
I've mounted a small gong behind the deer target and want to put a red light for its eye that will flash when hit.

You learn a lot after each touch of the trigger, far more than trying to decypher a group

You could just have a contact that breaks when the gong swings back, and wire the eye light circuit through a NC contact on a basic relay.
You would want the contact behind the front shroud. Or make it more realistic and simple at same time. Wire the eye directly through the sensor for always on, when you score a hit… lights out, at least till the gong swings forward again.

Another option would be to have an optical sensor (like in a shop doorway). When the gong swings back it swings into the sight line of the optical sensor to light the eye.

Yip that's the sort of thing I'm thinking of it's a coreflute target with a cut out and a gong mounted behind so when you hit the gong it swings and breaks a beam or circuit to light up the eye.

This looks like the story, but if you also want to flex your DIY skills, an optical beam would be my vote, you could set it up in a little frame so you can transfer it to a new target, as each gets shot out.

I've set ups in the US that use an Accelerometer/Seismic Detector on the back of the gong connected to bright strobe.

Gong moves = light goes off...

The deer is attached to a timber frame and the the gong is on a rubber belt attached to the frame above.
This could be changed if putting it on a hinge is easier
