    Henry single shot 223

I want a rifle primarily for long range rabbit shooting and goats. I like single shots and one that will take 5.56 as well seems like a good idea. I like the simplicity and not having to worry about whether longer cartridges will fit in my magazine. The ability to break them down is a bonus too.
Has anyone used one of these? How would it compare to a baikal single shot?
A criticism I have heard is that the trigger is a bit industrial. Can anyone confirm that. If so can it be fixed.

Bergara do single shots in .222 and 300BLK if that's of interest. Nice guns.

But that's just my bias showing for the Bergara. My main rifle is a Bergara in .308

That said, I have always thought about and considered a Henry....they do look good, but I have never been able to find someone that has had a lot of experience with them.

Maybe someone will put their hand up this time.

    Cheers

Pretty sure @ROKTOY owns it now and was considering selling it

    Yes I still have it.
Nice rifle but I am using the Howa 223 more now. The Bergara was a bit of an impulse buy, I was really after a breakdown 223 for an annual fly in walk out trip I do with a couple of mates.
Open to discussion if you were interested @Phil_H

Hmmm...I really like 223 as a calibre and can't be arsed reaming out a barrel. For the money I may as well grab a howa in 223

It’s already reamed out and is the deer slayer that I mentioned in an earlier post. I believe @ROKTOY is still in possession of it and interested in making a sale.

    What’s not to like?

    Cheers

We believe it to be the same rifle.
I didn't purchase it off DannyB, I obtained it via Gun city when they first opened there Motueka store, But having spoken to Danny we believe it to be the same. Short of knowing the serial numbers to compare we can't guarantee this.
How many 222 Bergaras would have been reamed out to 223?

To add to this I sold it to a guy from up that way, likely he traded it to guncity Motueka, a fantastic little shooter that prints clover leafs with belmont 55gn soft points.

I head past your place every couple of months, could always drop it off....
All this talk of lazers and tack drivers makes me think I should keep it, but the Howa 223 I have does everything I need.

This Bergara is a lovely rifle, but reaming out from 222 to 223 you have an unusual beast a 223 with a 1/14 twist which limits the weight of projectile to 55g tops, perhaps 50g even more suited. Phil your 1/9 gives you projectile weight options. Don't know if you have read Nathan Foster stuff, its a great read about the history, of the 223 https://www.ballisticstudies.com/ go to Knowledgebase/ CartridgeRsearch
