    Hunting Rifle Event 19 October

    Anyone else going to this shoot on 19 Oct in Ahititi?

    Some friends thought it a great idea to host a shoot as hosted by the IHRA(International Hunting Rifle Assosiation). Hennie B along with Graeme B got us a piece of land in Taranaki.

    The shoot will consist of 6 lanes - 3 x gong lanes and 3 lanes where shooters will shoot at paper targets of local game/vermin species.

    Target distances are unknown and shooters will have to guess the distances. 5 shots per lane. No range finders or wind speed meters allowed.

    Muzzle brakes, silencers, big scopes, small scopes, long/short barrels, as well as heavy or slim barrels are welcome.

    Bi-pods, monopods and any other attachements to the rifle will not be allowed. Shooters are allowed to use a rifle sling though.

    Time constraints: 45 to 120 seconds, depending on the exercise.

    Normal shooting distances: 50 to 350 with a maximum of 400m.

    Be warned.....this is addictive

    Restriction on rifles/calibres: sourfully we can not allow any rifle/bullet/calibre combination that will/can damage the equipment. Thus No magnums.

    Is it allowed to shoot over a backpack?

    Hi Jan. Thanks for asking.

    All rests to be used(except for your rifle sling) will be supplied by the organizers.

    You only have to bring:
    * your FAL
    * your rifle and bullets
    * hearing protection
    * something to eat and drink durimg the shoot.
    * camera/cellphone
    * hat and sunblock
    * it might rain too.

    I heard a little bird mention that there might be a back pack to be won......
