My 336 Marlin as the first "right " rifle for me, I`m left handed and had been using a right hand P/ H .308 bolt action for a bit so when I saw them at Reloaders for $400 I grabbed one. It was blued and I had to pull it apart to polish all the inside working bits to stop it from chewing the cartridges to bits lots of machine marks and also honed the trigger sear down from a 5lb pull to 3lb one much better. The little 3030 is a great bush gun , I fitted a Weaver 1-3 x40 scope on it and call mine " Sudden death " as the grey ghost`s on Steward Island found out. The blueing wears off quickly so I " hard coated" it on the outside only, EG, Nickel plate, .004" then hard chrome .002" deposit, looks like S/Steel and no rusting problems. I load with 3130 29.5 gr 150/170/and the plastic tipped ones.
