    Muzzle Loading

Do we have a muzzle loading section anywhere?
I've caught the bug and thought a black powder, and or muzzle loading section might have a following.
    What's everyone think?

Must admit I have always wanted to get into muzzle loading but I have no experience in it and would definitely need some advice.
I would be keen to hear what a basic set up would be and where the best place to buy it from is.

There are a few here who think that the smokeless stuff is just a passing craze. I've got 2 muzzle loaders but many more black powder cartridge guns it's quite easy to get hooked on the stuff.

Black powder is very very addictive, once you start there is no breaking the habit.

Yup same here. It's a temptation that just doesn't want to go away.
If you can't beat them, beat them.
They will be expecting you to join them, so you'll have the element of surprise.

Those Girls of yours leading you astray again Mate.

Hey I think @homebrew357 was turning out a few muzzle loading projects out wasn't he on his lathe - Some falling block patterns from memory so worth asking what he might have in the inventory to align with where you might want to go. Hope the old boy is still OK - about a year since I last reached out when thinking of what I could use for the big bore shoot. Then when you pick it up you can either come and visit me for a cuppa (as he lives about 5 mins done the hill). Or it would give me an excuse to drop it down to ya.

    Cheers CD.

Hi Guys, yer had to get a gear made for my lathe and can still do .45 cal muzzel barrels at 27" long in 12/15 steel to order. No more 4140, stuffs to hard to get smoothed in the bore. A lot of clubs for black powder around.

Honestly I was thinking there wouldn’t be much use to bringing a muzzy to NZ. I’m pretty good buddies with a legend of an expert in the US and he’s addicted and has taught me so so much. However I never really got addicted but I do like the restricted seasons that it allows me to hunt…but that isn’t an issue in the NZ!!Name: 5F9D970C-6A7B-4156-8318-64E1DF9CFB4E.jpeg

I have had a Flintlock long rifle and it was surprisingly accurate with round balls.
Until I loaded it for bear with two balls and one got stuck at the muzzle end and I decided to shoot them out. Well, sadly it blew the barrel out and I had to cut it short and it never shot any good after that. My own stupid fault.
(If anyone is curious,, loading with two balls worked well, at 50 metres used to get two holes about an inch apart. I was going to load it for stags at close range in the bush during the roar. That was the plan anyway...)

I had a .58 cal Musketoon once, which I used to load stoutly....

Never shot a deer with one as yet.

I would dearly love to get one of those kits from Track of the Wolf and make a nice long rifle. (Flint of course. )

Good to see a front stuffer being used to drop a couple of quality stags:

Amazing how long the smoke hangs in the air all the way from the shooter to the stag
