My 50s starting to look good
Recently I got some once fired 50 BMG Match brass from a mate so it spurred me into action this morning after a couriered upper didn't show.... :oh noes:
There were 47 bits so along with 5 "normal" pieces of the same brand, I prepped them.... sized, trimmed, neck turned, primer pockets.
The match brass has much more consistent weights, thinner & softer necks as well as tighter primer pockets.
Still have a sore arm & side from sizing the brass..... :X3:
I loaded 3 lots of 3 with 750 Amaxs & 2218 starting from mag length going longer in 3mm steps.
The Steyr got a good clean, it's still coppering....:oh noes:
I had some rounds already loaded with the same load & mag length in my old FNB brass.
These were used to re-sight in the rifle after having the scope on my 40" 375 DCM.
They were predictable, with very average approx 2 moa groups at 217 yards.
Then I fired the first three with the same load, just better brass.....

The next two groups weren't as tight & lost a little velocity as they got closer to the lands, still a couple of mm away at my longest length.
Still very promising results, going to put a couple more grains of powder in tomorrow & have another go.
I was surprised that the Lee dies gave a total of only 0-1 thou out of concentricity :o
Hopefully the new brass has brought the HS M1 to life, tomorrow will tell.
