Have settled on a 55gr load that shoots really well. Rifle seems to like the heaver bullets.
Perfect nite for a walk so will see if I can find something for it to get angry at.

Malcolm's K-Hornet likes the sierra 55gr SMP projectiles. They shoot well - he uses his for home killing sheep (and previously deer as well) mostly.
I started with Speer 52gr HPs in my K-Hornet - crazy deadly varmint bullet. I think i was getting 2700-2800fps out of it using AR2205 powder. My target round was the sierra 52gr HPBT and they shot awesome as well. Then i shifted to the hornady 40gr V-max in front of 14gr of Lil'gun for 3150fps and magpies that turned into puffs of feathers :)
I think I am a bit rusty.
After a bit of a rush racing a few km up a local river and right on last light I seen 2 hinds and a yearling at the top of a big clearing around 300 yards from where I entered it.
Made what I thought was a perfect stalk to take the yearling and before I got close enough a series of barks back from where I started, spooked them.
To top it off, a bit dejected I cut thru the middle of the clearing to head further up river to another spot before light was gone and another yearling scared the shit out of me when I almost stood on it in the bull rushes and gorse. I got a bead on it for a second but had a bit of a mare with using a gay turn bolt, the set trigger and not having a round chambered.
Other than that it was a good evening[emoji16]
I reckon the animals just starting to use the clearings due to having a bit of mild weather lately, as there was a total lack of sign where there is usually plenty.

Classic :D You might have to get down to the range for a bit of action shooting but leave the pistol at home...aye :XD:
Weathers fine for a fews days on your side of the hill, good chance. Farken drizzly shit here, just when i wanna warm the barrel up.

Sounds like an action packed stalk on the deer, hope your next encounter bloods the little KHornet.
My son shot a few rabbits and hares with it last nite.
Going back to look for those deer tonite before the rain comes in.

You can adjust the front trigger to be dedicated and remove the rear, from memory.
For a few years my only rifle was a Steyr Mannlicher in poo seventy :XD:, twin triggers & rotary mag. Once I took 5 quick shots at a running chamois buck, when the smoke cleared, my mate said I had set the trigger each time. I had know idea I'd done it, just subconscious I guess from use. Chamois had 3 holes in it too :D
The little K hornet flattened this fella around an hour ago.
Pup didn't know what to make of the deer. First dead thing he has seen.
Shot him on an old skidder track feeding on a bulldozed bank. Backed the truck up to bank and rolled him in. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...395106baac.jpg

Where'd you hit him and what range
About 80 yards. He was facing away from me and I asume looked up at another animal he was with, presenting a clean shot.
After I fired I seen another 2 deer milling around wondering what happened, until they seen my ugly face walking towards them.
Hit him about 3" below his ears.
Will see if I can recover the projectile when cutting him up in a week's time.
Either a Thar or chamois next.

So you came at him from behind, and shot him in the back....what's that saying? :)
Well done though.
Dunno. But If you think I am a threat from 80yrds away in a perverted sense, I thank you[emoji16]
But its more likely he was deaf, blind and dumb and I did him a favour.
I had a look for the projectile when I removed his head. The bullet impacted 3" below the base of his scull slightly right.
Hit bone but didn't break any and deflected out the side of his neck with a slightly larger hole than the entry.
Very little trauma at all but it killed him quickly as he was stone dead by the time I walked the 80 or so yrds to reach him.
