    New rifle needs sighting in

    Hey team,

My partner and I have just recently moved to rotorua and just brought a house in waikete valley. I'm still finding my feet around the place.
Having just recently got a new rifle (xbolt 308), I'm in need of somewhere to sight it in. Would anyone have a suitable location? Farm land possibly?
As I not a member of nzda I can't use the range here. Or any other suitable location.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks bevan

    The rifle is suppressed

Little bit of drive for you but not too bad, maybe 40mins, is the Te Puke rifle club.

Their range is open to the public every Saturday morning for a nominal fee.

    PM @17brno for details

They good buggers and just like having the range used.

The BOP NZDA have open days at their range at the TECT park (Ngawaro) last Sunday of the month, so unfortunately a bit of a wait until then.

Deprime a fired case, blacken back and hole with a candle (beware, conducts heat really well!!!), insert in chamber, bore sight on soccer ball 50m away. A larger, round target which almost but not quite fills the muzzle circle is better than a smaller one as it is easier to centre accurately.

Such a bore sighter has unlimited power and can be used on sight-in targets several km away, you can even shine it through the curtains of the Vietnam veteran next door without triggering his PTSD.

You can shoot at the Rotorua NZDA range if occupied buy a member with a range key and pay a $10.00 range fee (day membership)
We also have range days 3rd sunday of each month starting again in January which you could turn up and sight your rifle in (day membership applies)

Hey mate, I can get you onto a farm in Maketu to sight it in (40min drive for you?). Any specific dates you are looking at? Now that its summer weekday afternoons are a good time.
