newbie looking for a range tutor in wellington

    hi all

I have recently purchased a .303 (first rifle) and need to sight it in. I am a member of the hutt valley deerstalkers assc and was hopping that someone would be interested in coming up to kaitoke range with me and showing me some range etiquette, where it is and helping me sight in the rifle.

I can get away from work during the week as i hear it can get a bit crowded over the weekend.
happy to provide refreshments and lunch or something.( and a few shots of course)

    cheers in advance

    picture of rifle?
    what model? no4? , no1 mk3?

    has it been headspaced?
Does the bolt serial number match the receiver serial number?

If the answer to either of these is no (and especially the latter) , I wouldnt go near it til the answer is yes.

I dont have a car for 2 weeks then I do the HVDS range officer course on the 19th. I will be going up mid-week for a day after that to work on my 2x 303s and my AR if i can get some bits sorted to fix their sights which is being a problem. I have 303brit headspace gauges if needbe.

Do you have your own range key?

    its a no4 mk1 longbranch.
no the bolt doesn't match and no i haven't headspaced it. the previous owner has fired it.
i have not got a range key yet, planning on going to the next meeting to get one (haven't been to any meetings as my license hadn't turned up yet so i couldn't get a key.)

i have the open sights off my rifle that you are welcome to have if they are any use. its the rear sight which can be flipped from i think 300m to 600m. and also a front sight though one of the side guards on it is broken.

It would be cool to tag along with you and see some other more traditional .303's in action.
