A bit of fun with a new AR15.
I don't think iv had a New AR that wouldn't shoot 1 MOA... And this was no exception :D
A bunch of fun and still proper compact with the little 2.5 power optic!

Good vid. Are they a GC brand? Chinese or US?
Haha they are made in Las Vegas haha yep Gun City have them :)
When you were shooting 300, the first couple of rounds had significant muzzle flash, but the last few didn't ? Camera aperture or speed, or something else ?
Good shooting.
The new range looks good doc
You try but you just keep coming back to ar's-I'm still waiting on a vid of your "sniper mauser"
Yeah man it's comin together.
The Mauser...

That's very good shooting with a make do rest and such small targets way out there. What sort of hold over for the 400m targets or did you dial it. What ammo were you using. How do you rate the polymer lower. NFA do and all alloy model as well I think, what made you go for the polymer one?
Er yeah the polymer lower is lighter and had a better trigger than anything else in that price range.
The sight has a very fine illuminated reticle with markings for 100 200 300 400 and 600 yards. that worked out perfect for the 55 grain hornady steel case match ammo.
Awesome video Dr Watson.
You got to be pleased with that.
If I can shoot my CMMG MK4 RCE over similar distances with similar results I'd be as happy as a happy thing on it's happiest day. :)
Cheers
Pete
Is that an Arctic Fox optic? Cool video

Hey Doc. Awesome vid's mate. I am amazed how well you can shoot that AR with a 2.5x. I have a 4x on mine and i can hit at 600 yards but not in a group that small. Where did you purchase Arctic Fox optic from? The 650 yards looks a long way on the camera :)
Gun City in Wellington has them, I had to swap out all the hardware but it's held up well since then.
Don't expect anything amazing but as you can see it does a very satisfactory job... and considering it's a sub $400 optic I'm not complaining.
Don't suppose you could put a photo of how you mounted it? I have one on an sks and I've never used it. Might try it on my AR. Would love to get rid of my scope

would you mind telling me what mount and mods you did to it? i really like the look of it also
I'm after this platform as well, looks good. Always been interested in these rifles.
Yeah it's just swapping the hardware out with quality bolts and lock nuts.
And the bolts that mount the base to the optic
Cheers mate. I picked one up on friday for $225.00 from Gun City and took it along to the Auckland Deer Stalkers range over the weekend. Was impressed to be honest. Took me a little while to get it Zero'd in (Bore sighter error) but once on paper I could put some good shots down range. Will be using it in my next service rifle shoot.
Was looking at the NFA today @ chch guncity. Might be my next purchase.
Anywhere from $1700 on up.
It's a US $100 plastic lower with a rep for breaking occasionally and a chinese bare bones upper that should sell for about $400 but gun city somehow try to screw you for $1499 for upper alone. Take a wild guess if it's better
e: there are aluminium NFA lowers too which are probably fine, a lower is a lower is a lower if it's in spec
NFA is a Las Vegas company. GC has mixed versions of uppers and lowers, but there is NFA uppers and lowers avaliable.
Cheers, just grabbed on from GC too. Nice.
The only NFA lower (not to be confused with NEA) I have viewed was out of spec and had a plastic fire control group. The uppers appear to be ok.
If you want an alternative plastic lower they will be available in a few weeks for $NZ99.90.
Personally I would see a $999 AR15 kit with CMMG receivers, a USA barrel and the option of installing free float handguard as a more logical investment though.
Digit is right, the entire lower on the plastic NFA is poly !! Well ... All but the springs...
I do like the upper ... It's nice, and it's light.
I use my AR everyday, probably more than anyone in the country.
I'll be sure to let y'all know if it craps out.
Bloody good vids Dr. W. That Mauser is an impressive gun, it's astounding that something of that age can still be so accurate and repeatable. Thanks for sharing
Digit. Are you saying you can get a complete AR15 for under a grand? Not Chinese...
https://nzar15.com/store/index.php?i...oller=category
Requires stock, barrel nut and handguard to finish.
Or other option is a completed spikes off digit also. About $1900 and it's not Chinese. For $200 more...
