Which NZDA Branch to join in Auckland?

I have been checking out the info about the Auckland NZDA and North Auckland NZDA branch, the Auckland branch seems to have the 200m range, but the North Auckland branch only has a 100m range. Does any one has the experience of either of these two branches? I am not really a hunting guy yet, but very interested in the range facility and shooting competition.

Auckland’s riverhead range is run by a great friendly bunch of RO’s good bench facilities at 25 and 100 have not used 200 yet.

Given the number of Auckland refugees at North Auckland, I'd say that's your answer.
I can only speak for North Auckland but it's a pretty welcoming and friendly environment.

Join north Auckland, their range is way more friendly and you dont have to really book to use it. (You can book it if you want but I've heard that if you show up on the day you can wait from 30min-1hour and use it).

Was a member at Auckland a few years. Excellent bunch, up to 80 attendees at a interesting presentation or seminar evening, and they regularly had some superb guest speakers. The range is excellent just a bit of a pain being in the Woodhill Forest with fixed entry and exit times pretty much weekends only. Very good range days tho with a variety of shoots. Organized "party " hunts are regularly and productive..they look after New shooters and old hands/new members very well. As usual, what you get out of it has a lot to do with what you put in. Going monthly and stepping up and talking to others is a great way to start.

Also very nice club rooms and a feed.and beers etc available on meeting nights.

Auckland Club Rooms are at Target St, Pt Chevalier. Club Executive these days are all young enthusiasts- or were when I was there, backed by plenty of experienced greybeards lol. Highly recommend. Quite a few lasses too who are active capable hunters, and youngsters with parents or newly young adults. So a good mix and a good social environment.

He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

Have a look at Akarana-City Rifle Club Inc. - Home they shoot most Sundays in summer autumn have an excellent range out to 900m and are very friendly and knowledgeable, the president Jackson is great

Another vote for North Auckland - very helpful people and it also has a bow shooting course now. I haven't used it yet but will check out this weekend.

I was on committee at north Auckland for a few years I haven’t been a member there for a while (no reason it’s a great club)

Both clubs have their pros and cons
    Pros for north Auckland is
    1 it’s cheaper
2 you don’t have to be there at a certain time and leave at a certain time due to locked gates (like you do with Auckland)

Pros for Auckland (only shot there a handful of times)
1.Better facilities (north Auckland is just a basic range) Auckland is quite flash in comparison
2 more shoot days (north Auckland is restricted on that front )

The fact that Auckland is behind a locked gate and you can only enter and leave at certain times was an absolute deal breaker for me
I was not even 5 minutes late once (15 or so years ago and missed out)
At least with north Auckland you can come and go as you wish on shoot days

North Auckland is a great club with a great bunch of blokes im still very good mates with quite a few members

I can’t speak for Auckland as I haven’t spent much time there

Both great options just depends what you want from it
