    Ohariu NZDA Range

Anybody been there? Any good? Any chance it's like the Taupo range, drop a dollar donation and BYO targets etc..?

Do yaself a favour and shoot HVDA
Ohariu used to be closed during lambing and IMHO is a shithouse range - I joined Wgtn but went to HVDA and I don't even live in the Hutt..

I think that the Mainly Hunting guys are connected with Wgtn Deerstalkers? They might have some advice..

Sweet cheers, I just need a 100m range I can go to preferably a week day morning without much hassle, like wake up that day, good weather so go shoot. It's kind of a one off. All my Makara properties are too hilly to set up a 100m range to do load development testing without a shitload of walking across valleys to collect targets

You will need to be a member of HVDS to shoot at their kaitoke range.

New Zealand Deerstalkers' Association (Hutt Valley Branch) Inc. - Club Range

$105 a year but part year's can be done I think, $15 for a range key for the gate (or walk in, get the key). They meet on the first Wednesday of The month in the cosmopolitan club I think.

Or just make friends with one of the HVNZDA members and drag them to the range, there must be a fair few on here?

I think the conclusion to this story is that I need to live much closer to Taupo so I can spend a dollar a year on range costs

Taking a mate up there isn't a problem. Obviously we aren't going to be that strict. But we dont want one mate in a group joining up and getting a range key so the whole group can head up there every weekend.
@Dougie - there are a bunch of HVNZDA members on here that would no doubt take you up there to sight in your rifle.

Cheers mate yeah I thought that was the case, it's just a long way for me (looking at an hour each way once I've met up with said member) and was looking for something easier.

Hutt valley it is then! @ebf we will have to rebook..and no I'm not afraid of rain, I just don't want any bloody gusting cross winds fecking up my groupings
