The Practical Guide to Long Range Hunting Rifles

Who is this fella? I see stuff I have read elsewhere, under different names?
Lost all and any interest from me anyway, when I read a link saying you need to bed Blaser stocks when heavier barrels are used, due to weight they impart forward of the receiver
How the hell would you bed an R93/R8 stock any better without fucking it anyway?

He must know more than the Germans that have won awards for their innovation?
The world foremost online resourse? Really?

An accurate rifle design is easy. Blaser have done it slightly different to coventional rifles but have enhanced and employed all the requirements to ensure their rifles are, across the board.

Not sure, it is the first I have heard of him. I have seen some links and I am sure I have read the same stuff before.
I just dont understand why you would make ridiculous suggestions like bedding a blaser system. Yeah you will get ones that dont shoot like any other brand but I bet your bottom dollar its the barrel, not the system or its fitting to the stock.
Probably not being fair in general, but as it was the first thing I read, the author lost all credibility with me. I would suggest a lack of experience on the system, therefore should have said nothing about it.

Why don't you email him or post on one of the blogs at his website? He seems like a pretty genuine and approachable guy - you might be able to reach a common understanding

Have you read what he wrote about the Accuracy international chassis?

I've got the book if anyone wants to borrow it.

Na. Just spoke with someone who's opinion I trust way more than this blokes on the matter and I am satisfied with my observations.

It is truly ridiculous IMO to suggest bedding any R93/R8 blaser system. One quick look at one will tell you that.

Oh I see the problem... He was actually banging on about a Blazer which is obviously quite different from our Blasers because the thing he was looking at apparently grouped like shite and lacked an aluminium bedding block in the stock and my Blasers are tack-drivers and have an aluminium bedding block insert in both the safari stock and the off-road one. That Blazer thing must be some shit-arse poor mans copy of a proper european rifle...

And check out his MOA comprehension issues from his dissertation on the Titan.... "the Titan cannot be expected to group less than 3MOA at 100 yards"

I've never met this guy (Nathan Foster) so I can't comment on him or his book, but that word highlighted above is so under used in our society, magic stuff James - I can't stop laughing.

The Practical Guide to Long Range Hunting Rifles

It's a universal favourite of mine.

He is a nice guy to talk to...but what twists my nickers is he posts a lot of second hand info posted as facts.... I have read some of his views and lots are very very similar to others I have read that then down the track change there mind like he will when he gets around to reading it I guess.

There is also info about bedding other brands that flies in the face of every other bit of info I have read before.. His bedding compound varies in consistency so much I wont touch it now... Devon all the way now

I didn't seam very long between asking about how you do things on the phone to holding talks at hunting shops

People are so quick to get out there and slag him off. I listen to what he has to say because he is out there doing it far far more than nearly every person on this forum, not surfing forums as though he is an expert.

It seems a bit rich that he gets a hard time from people on forums about copy/paste info on his site when we do it all the time and act like we came to the conclusions ourselves when really we just read somebody's opinion on another site and agreed with it.

Jeez, savage you might have the forums mixed up? How do you know who gets up to what on this forum. I havent seen anyone here professing to be an expert either? That bloke Nathan does tho.
Opinions will differ of course, but your way off the mark generalising people on here. Hes out there doing it? I can bet your fucking life I have fired more deliberate LR shots than this bloke ever would, so what? And he most likely helped pay for it, if he ever pays taxes. Whats that universal word you like again James?
You seem to bite the other side of the pie on just about every issue on here savage. If your opinion is so low of this forum maybe you can kick his one in the guts. It seriously needs a boost.

What I'd like to know is exactly what point does a shooter look at his rifle and say "not accurate enough". I mean are we talking guys wanting 1/4" MOA or is 1/2" ok? I'm all for tweeking things but surely this is a drastic thing to do isnt it. Tearing up your warranty and creating a must pay issue when ever something little fails on your rifle.

Is the barrel shoot-in period far more important than bedding?
