    Rifle shooter or shotgun shooter

Which are you? Some of us are both. Me Im a rifle shooter spent my whole life on rifles own and owned a few shot guns but just cant master them. Cant even hit a possum in a tree at 15m right in front of me. Given the claybirds a go and can hit them sometimes but not enough to be enjoyable. Ill stick to my rifles...

Yep, I just have more experience being bad with the shotty

Have been a pretty casual bird/clay shooter in the past with family. I am no duck slayer but I've always found shotguns pretty intuitive.

Now I'm getting interested in centrefire. In the past the ballistics & initial outlay required for a rifle put me off. Guess I'm getting older because I have more patience for the process now (and a bit more money for the set up )

I'll elaborate, grew up shooting shotguns and air rifles, so have the basics and can make straightforward shots. Air rifles were a good start for rimfire and then centrefire shooting. Unfortunately, rimfire aside, I just don't have enough opportunity to progress my skills. As we all know, practice makes perfect!

I think a lot of us started on the humble air rifle. Mine was a baikal man did I shoot some stuff with that..took out a whole platoon of my army men that had advanced to withinn the top rail of the fence opposite our patio.

    Greetings all,
Never got into shotguns. I did own one for a while, a pump with two barrels one with rifle sights. Never fired it, not even once. Finally sold it and bought a range finder.

shotguns have to fit. If they dont fit you wont hit much. keep both eyes open and it isn't about aiming. also just remember that at 15 metres depending on the shotty, it may not have started to spread much yet. It has not yet reached the 3 foot circle of death and may only be 200mm wide in the pattern. if you are a little off with the shotgun as in fit, then no you may well not have the required results.

Good and bad days on the shotty with ducks in front of me. Pretty consistent with a rifle though.

I love shooting both. The accuracy of a rifle at range and the brute force of a shotgun appeal to me. Add a pistol into the mix and I am as happy as a pig in a paddock full of new born lambs.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
