    Schmidt & Bender 4-16x50 precision hunter ##HELP##

    Hi everyone,
Im really hoping someone can help me here!

Ive got an older Schmidt & Bender 4-16x50 scope (precision Hunter model). Ive added a cpl pics of the turrets. Its a Mil-dot reticle (has x4 mil-dots in each quadrant
    before the posts.

The problem I have is I have forgotten what values each click on the evelvation turret is??? I've been using the "shooter app" for calculating elevation in past but lost all the input data so Im having to input this again. I have found all load and rifle data I need (from my notebook when sighted in) but Im unsure what each click on the elevation turret represents. There are 32 clicks range on the turret. I seem to THINK I was told this scope was 5mm per click BUT IM NOT POSITIVE so would like some reassurance please.

My next question is: IF each click represents 5mm, then in my shooter app do I tick 1/5 in "turret elevation graduation" or 1/20, 1/10, 1/8 ........etc.

Lastly, just to clarify, IF it is 5mm per click, AND I should tick 1/5 in the app turret elevation garduation, THEN does that mean each click on the turret equates to 0.2 Mil?

For example, if say I calc based on a distance of 800m and the app states "6.0mils (30 clicks) would that mean I would need to hold over 4 mil dots on the reticle and wind the elevation turret 10 clicks?

    I hope this makes sense.

    Much appreciated

    Brad

Click values for S&B Precision Hunter - The Optics Talk Forums

    5mm

"Schmidt and Bender's Precision Hunter 4-16x50 Rifle Scope is an outstanding long-range scope, equipped with a third turret parallax adjustment. At 4x, the Mil-Dot reticle with fine crosshairs and four posts allows quick target acquisition. At 16x, the Mil-Dots become visible and can be used for precise rangefinding, trajectory and windage calculations. The top-mounted BDC has 5mm (1/5" clicks) for quick adjustments to 500 yards. The windage adjustment also has 5mm clicks for precise sighting in".

    Each click is 5mm= .05mil

So you need to select "mils" and "1/20" in shooter app.

Thanks heaps, that is what I originally thought but this confirms it - cheers.
Forgive my extra question but given this, how many MIL does each click of the elevation turret then equal?
    Thanks in advanced

Sorry, just re-read your reply. So if each click is 0.05Mil then say a 800m shot that come out on the "shooter app" as 5.8mil (116 clicks) would mean using this scope I'd use the holdover of 4 mil-dots on the reticle @ dial 16 clicks on elevation turret????

Shit sorry, that would be 36 clicks on turret BUT Si ce this turret only has max of 32 clicks I'd need to hold over on the 5th MIL on reticle (bottom post) and then dial 16 clicks on turret???

Correct. Unfortunately that is the downside to that model S&B as I have recently found out.

Thank you very much for your responses. So in your opinion does this mean that this scope is really designed to use the reticle MIL-dots as point of impact and use the elevation dial to account for fractions of a Mil (I.e at say 1.6 mil you would hold on the first mil-dot down on reticle and dial 12 clicks on the turret)?
Another example at say 4.3 mil you would hold on the 4th mil-dot down on the reticle and dial 7 clicks on the turret)?

If so this means that this scopes absolute maximum range would be 6.6 mil (I.e. Hold on the bottom post on the reticle (which would be 5 mil) and dial up the max 32 clicks on the turret (which would be an added 1.6 mil)?

Any tips on then setup for this scope for long range hunting? What zero range would you use?
Thanks in advance for your time in helping me

    Brad
