    The Sharps is making holes'

Hi, I`m giving my home made Sharps a work out at the range to see what it likes, been trying 3f black powder and 3031 powder. Results so far are more of a cluster at 100m with 65 and 70grs 3f black, so tried 3031 at 40- to 44grs, about the same, so loaded down to 38grs 3031 with paper patched 420gr bullet and tried it at 50ms, bingo!, it likes that load. Will be looking to see what it will do at 100ms, but that 50m load is looking good for goats.

I use 63grain FFG holy smoke with beer coaster wads and a bees wax cookie, 500 grain pure lead projectile sized to .452 and off hand get what you have on the RH target with my Sharps carbine, you want a few projects to try? My trap door does about the same with this load

They are pretty big holes in the target, looks to be shooting well. Be interesting to see the results on goats when you get a chance to hunt them.

Hi Guys, First my double mould that I made for lube bullets gives me a 405gr one and a 420gr one, they come out at .461""dia and sized to .458. The p patched ones are the same weights. Maca49 your barrels would be way better than mine, I`m surprised it`s doing so well for a home made barrel and thanks for the offer of the bullets but my barrel is .457" bore and will keep with what I've got to get it right. I think I'm trying too heaver loads so will down load a bit and then slowly come up. Mooseman, It should really flatten the goats and any thing it hits, but getting there will be a mission, it`s 12 I/2 lbs, have made a sling for it and I know where some goats are, and will do a lot of crowing if I get one, love goat curry. Will keep playing with it, this is the fun part. Cheers.
