I surely hope you replied....it died didnt it??? job done.... LOL.
thats a new twist on the old "timber hitch"...shear brilliance.
I think you should organise to head down and demo it for the ol boys...might be just the ticket...or complete failure in that area....
the heavy for calibre .224s have put the 223 into what was .243 territory that much is for certain...
never heard of them
it was suggested above that removing 80% of the plastic tip made a difference all be it at expence of not being so aerodynamic....
now if my memory is correct (sometimes its not) the nosler...
Well it's not 223 it was it's older little brother the trebly. The smaller one104lb was bailed,no fuss headshot.the bigger 150lb fella was on run at fifty? Yards with dogs behind and copped a 52grn...
with luck you will be getting this nice damp misty rain today..should make things a bit more pleasant instead of bone dry.. the animals will be out enjoying it.
I will admit that the likes of barnes and heavier projectiles have upped the effectiveness of the 224s but will stick to the thought you still got to put that pill in with more precise placement...
Uncle and good mate had same happen and they both then emptied mags at it...7mm mag and 44 mag which kind of flips it on its head.
to each thier own.... we make our choices and live with...
isnt it weird/sad that we the shooting community keep making same mistakes/relearn same lesson, year in ,year out..... if you look at critisism levels at the .224s as a whole, for use on deer.........
I cant "like that".....but good on you for shareing...... hope you can find him when go back for a look.
dog looks to be asking when you will get out the knife and get her some yummy bits LOL.
instant drop...nice work.
hogue stocks are dirt cheap.... so dont stress that bit if find one in other stock.
when yo ufellas learn to smash the front wheels....one or preferably both..blood trails pretty much become redundant LOL.
beautiful rifle and good looking deer.enjoy the venison.
and he has GREAT taste in footwear.... go the minime.
hmm might have to find some LOL
22-250 is USUALLY a 1;14 twist...... bog std 55grn work well.... the 63grn seirra semi point work well
was thinking the other day, there is a small niche for a heavy blunt 224 projectile...up weight...
cunning alright...best I shoot n eat them first LOL.

went onto google earth, she was winding from 350yards away and shot was indeed 150ish this one was all of 20 yards from spot I got first one with her months ago using the trebly LOL. now...
fired single 55grn sierra softpoint today (loads given to me by 257 weatherby years ago LOL) it tipped over nice fat fallow spiker/stag at 150ish..he went all of 20 yards with tip of heart missing...
puha and pakeha...you starting to sound like my ancestors bud...
Funnily enough I believe the 50grn ttsx was giving me SIMILAR wounding to a slower .270 cup n core loading but in opposite order on animal.
interesting as I have shot deer with speers awesome 52grn hollow point..arguably a varmit round by all definitions..bought the 50grn hp by mistake, much smaller hp on them..the wallabies didnt notice...
hunting in redbands too I see...class right from the start... hope you get to enjoy the butchery and cooking with youngun too. he will be proud as punch dishing up HIS venison to folks...... fried...
