Same here no troubles, 1:8 howa 2710fps.
Don't think you'll be disappointed, Bryan litz lists the G1 BC as .505
Reference photo, is my experience with the 73/75gr ELDM's. Quite a few deer with them, very reliable and emphatic despite the lack of retained weight. The 80s do give me confidence on unforgiving...
Velocity is not all that different especially when BC taken into account. 80gr doing a tad over 2700fps, 73gr 2850fps. Impact Velocity is very close. Maybe with the extra 7gr of mass but, that...
Interesting the difference between these 2 projectiles. On the left, 80gr eldm, on the right, 73gr eldm. Both recovered from sika at ranges around 300m. These results have been repeatable. It's...
Posted in the stags 2024 thread but here too for record. 4pt shot at 296m required a track and finishing shot due toa ballsup at my end, 8pt shot at 402m. Both using 80gr ELDM, 2720fps.

Nice going, hope to put a Sika stag on the deck over the next few days with the 80gr ELDM. Will post up if successful
Tikka and a Nightforce, can't go wrong!
As above I settled on 23.5gr 2206h in adi brass with the 73gr eldm. As I went higher I started experiencing pressure. Drops seem to validate with a velocity of 2850fps on Applied ballistics.
228m, same 73gr eldm load. My youngest son's first stag, velvet ethics aside I didn't have the heart to tell him he couldn't shoot. One very happy lad, antlers off to get cured. First shot was a wee...
Good evening hunt, a nice hind which was barren and a wee pig on the way down to get her. Sika shot at 346m, pig at 30m. Video link attached.

Doing well to get 2900fps, interested to hear what your load is?
2.390 inches COAL, any shorter and the ogive will be in the case mouth.
73gr ELDM, boringly predictable at 330m.

They do lose a bit of weight, core jacket separation but, very effective and the deer either drop or don't go far so doesn't really matter tbh.
Not in NZ that I've seen. You'd be better off buying some Hornady match with the 73gr eldm and see if they group in your rifle. If they do, you won't be disappointed.
Good couple of days hunting Sika with Pop Shot one of them was this hind shot at 431m with the 223, 75gr ELDM. Entered snug right shoulder and excited opposite side, she went no more then 40m...
230m, 73gr ELDM, entered high on crease, exited opposite side, staggered 15m and tipped over.

Yes all in great condition. Left a nice promising velvet stag to grow, will be interesting to see how he turns out.
Been a while since I've added to this thread. Few new additions to the 223, a carbon Fibre stock and Jefferson bottom metal.
Latest 3 animals, shot with 75gr ELDM's. Currently working up new loads...
Haha yeah, wife made a wee warm coat for her, was very cold, back to the hut at 1830 and it had already begun to freeze.
Shot this sika hind right on last light 2 weeks ago, with the 75gr eldm at 150m, ran about 20m and collapsed. The 75gr eldm have been very reliable and consistent so far.

I must admit I'm a convert, the performance when loaded appropriately is not bad at all. Below is a sika stag shot at 140m with a 75gr eldm @2780fps, dropped on the spot and didn't move. Repeated...
Yesterday evening with my boys, stalked to 150m and shot with a Hornady 68gr bthp. Very impressive damage, making a mess of the vitals, performance similar to that of an Amax. The boys did very well...
Tahr, just a box of factory ammo Giles had left. Grouped just under an inch in the howa. Have some 60gr TMK and 68gr bthp to try next.
