The 65gr game king is the best deer bullet combination of accuracy and performance on game I have found while being constrained by twist rate....1 in 9 twist
Neither
Perhaps the plastic tip initiating expansion a bit quicker.
Is that a clip on camera or a a electronic scope or what's the go there Tahr ?
Howa Mini $700... vx 6, more than that, Jefferson Outdoors bottom metal a few more hundreds, Carbon stock $1000ish
Forgetting a sling yet again and carting it round with some bindertwine bloody...
65gr game king, steep (very) downhill shot Spiker totally front on. Approx 80y sitting shot off my knees and elbows took him just above the Adams apple to smash the third bone down from skull to drop...
You have trimmed up the hair around the exit?
Looks too clean.
Nice opening tho sure to let plenty of light in.
I do have a shorter stock for it I had on for the son when he was smaller.......:nose pick:
No perhaps about it I do need a bigger boat.
I'm getting 3100 with 65gr not sure how long it is probably 20-22".
I want to shorten it so it will fit under the seat in the boat but I'm scared to touch it because it shoots so we'll and I don't...
Its the tumbeling downhill that does it....see the next one I posted it was half the size and very clean damage wise.
Yep they are.
Key point from that being if the animal is likely to tumbel a lot and you want all the meat perhaps best to neck shoot at the atlas joint.
Large mature doe over 250 y,clean crease shot collected off side leg. Rolled 100plus y down very steep face before coming to rest at the bottom.

Should work fine.
Real world gain over a 55gr? Well maybe a bit more likely to get an exit on a bodyshot I guess.
Yep and if you get a Jefferson outdoors bottom metal for the mini you get more overall lenght possible in the mag and a nice flush floorplate.
Mine is the older 9 twist not the new 8 however it...
Things to remember here Phil is that projectile construction and (impact)velocity are the major players in terminal performance.
Inline with the opening posts question if constrained by twist...
You just wont get an impressive wound channel with 223.
Its 50 to 80 grain at quick to moderate velocities.
It didn't go far tho did it.
A decent projectile like the one you used or a heavier...
You must surely be the first person in the world to call 223rem a fussy cartridge.
It along with 308win would have to be the most simple and forgiving and cheap cartridges to shoot and load for.......
I like carcass pictures if you managed to get it out whole and hang.
Tho I have a pretty good idea what it will look like.
Beautiful well done, enjoy the venison.
What powder under the 80s?
