    Shooting app

    Hey Team ,

What app is everyone using for their drop charts etc?
Just starting to try and learn a bit more about the longer range stuff (most of my deer have been shot under 50 metres) and want a decent app to go with it. Have already got a drop chart that goes out to 400 yards but if that trophy of a lifetime walks out beyond that I want to be able to have a crack....I'm not one for just putting lead in the air.

    Cheers

I use Strelok, I haven't used it a lot, but it put me bang on first shot at 860m so must be okay!

Hornady app is easy to use and works well for me out to 500 (as far as I shoot).

I have Shooter and Applied Ballistics. AB is much more expensive.

I find i mainly use Shooter, it works perfectly well for me for my LR hunting ranges to 1000 yards, longest deer has been 994 yards. And i just find the interface slightly easier to use than AB, but they are not that different.

I do use Applied Ballistics to get the Litz validated BC's for various projectiles thou.

Like any of these ballistic apps, you need to put in the time to make sure all the input data is spot on, then get out and shoot to distances beyond what you'd normally hunt at and validate the app to line up with the actual drop you are seeing.

    Right, where to start!
    Distance first.
After 600m you need to be inputting your environmental if your serious about ethical shot placement.
Up to there use what you want.
Yes I do swear by applied ballistics as they have awesome back up and are always upgrading their software and also the only solver that you can get CDM's for.
Personally I use the kestrel 5700 elite that has an internal compass and free CDM's.
My choice of Rf binos are sigsauer 3000bdx which when paired to the kestrel does every thing I need and more with accurate solutions out past 2.5k.
    Amy questions ask away

I have used a few but keep going back to strelok pro. Its simple to use has more features than the the others but they dont get in the way if you just need a simple solver.

But any app will only work well with good data in. and they all need to be trued. dont think paying the most money for a app or device will keep you on target with out some trueing.
All the app have won events all round the world.

That's correct assuming you are at a level that warrants using ab cdm's which is through Trans and into subsonic.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the elite sniper forces in the western world are predominatly using ab.
    There's a reason for that.
Don't get me wrong as I have used most apps that have been on the market since you could get them.
Yep bullshit in bullshit out end of story.

i really doubt any sniper team is using a phone app for the solver. It makes alot of sense for them to use a kestral. so yes they are pretty much tied to AB. very few of them would have any option on what they use. Also couldn't see the yanks paying for a Russians ballistic solver.
AB is not perfect neither are all the others. They have all had fuckups.
