"Dreamland" range is the only one that comes to mind.
Thank's David,
I think I must be dreaming, I'm surprised, their isn't a lot in the way of ranges in the Waikato.
Not in Waikato, but closer than Auckland is Tokoroa Shooting Complex but that caters to clubs, not members of the public rocking up. The sighting in range does 50m, 100, 200m.
The solution is to join a club that shoots there ? One is silhouettes, shot there in air rifle, rimfire (out to 100m) and centrefire (fixed at 200m). There's a shoot this weekend 28 Feb and then once a month. But the range is busy most weekends with other clubs shooting.
You don't have to join a club you can just join the Complex, fee is $45 plus $10.00 for a key shoot any time, most weekends the sight in range is available, except third weekend of the month when the silhouette ranges are in use,
I think there is a one off joining fee, give Sandi Curreen a ring 07 883 7802 evenings, PM me if you want to go on a week day I can probably find time there is a $10.00 a day fee for non members it pays to bring your own targets and holders
the club rooms have microwaves stoves and a a couple of jugs. Robert.
I stand corrected
The sighting in ranges are 50 100 and 200 metres, the complex is available seven day a week when you have a key it's only closed for major competitions or if the complex is booked out which is not often
members get a newsletter with an events calendar,
It's on Newell road north side of town next to the rubbish dump it's sign posted on the main road
Thanks, that's really helpful,
Thanks shooternz,
that's some really good information thanks,
next time I'm free on a week day i'll pm you.
regards
Sure thing happy to help
Down at the Tokoroa shooting complex this morning - it's only 2 minutes drive from my house. Very calm, overcast, nobody there, great shooting conditions.
Be aware that the .22 sighting in target frame is set at 50 yards not metres. The 100 and 200 sighting in target frames are set at metres.
Sounds great to me mate[emoji779]️
I got both the rifles suppressed DPT, makes them far more sociable. Give us a heads up when your over, be good.
If one of you guys wants to use the Tokoroa range send me a PM and I might (depending how busy I am) be able to take you. You just have to pay $10.
EaglePoint is right. Scout and find where the ducks want to be. Don't waste your time hunting a spot because it looks good. Hunts where the ducks are going.
The NZDA range in Tauranga is open to public on the last Sunday of each month.
$15 for the day
open 9am to 3pm
TECT Park, half way between Rotorua and Tauranga on the Pyes Pa road
25m 50m 100m 200m 300m from fully covered firing line.
Benches and mats 15 shooters on line.
Very well set up range. Recommended. Takes about 1 hr 20 to drive from Hamilton compared to 1 hr to Tokoroa. You will need your own target frames at Tokoroa but not at TECT. You can set out your targets at several ranges and just shoot them one after the other so it would be better for establishing trajectory. And it goes to 300m. . Take good ear protection at TECT because others will be shooting big calibers next to you. Look at the BOP NZDA web site for details and contact people to phone.
The Tokoroa range has target frames at 50yds, 100m and 200m. You just need to have a staple gun, drawing pins or tape to attach your targets.
Just heading off there now to try some 150gr Woodleigh PSP in my .308. The huge pine forest deer around here can take some stopping.
With regards to noise, the club is putting in sound deadening roof insulation soon, which should take out some of fhe ringing from the benches, and may well help with overall noise
