I'm building a portable standing bench for such occasions.

We use one of those Back and decker folding workbenches. Not unlike this

Able to clamp the rifle rest into the top, push the feet into the ground and pop a sandbag or weights across the struts for stability. (May need reinforcing if its an el cheapo one)

Take a folding seat of some sort and golden. Can even use it to hold the rifle for cleaning.
