WBC14, World Bench Rest champs 14.

These were held at my local range in Nelson from 02 to 12-11-17 & I was asked to post my results.

The weather was nice but windy, much, much more windy than normal...

There were 71 shooters from 12 countries, my goal was "not to be last"

I got extremely lucky with my 5 shot warm up group on the first day of competition, a PB, it was remeasured after this pic at 0.076, the world record is 0.065 it was the smallest group shot at 100 yards during the comp out of 852 groups, yep as, mentioned extremely lucky, it didn't feature in my points, being the warm up, but I did get an medal for it, which was quite a surprise at the awards dinner

A great bunch of Guys & from around the world out for tea at one of the sponsors establishments

I had a great time & it was strange not shooting on the 13th after 10 straight days of shooting, I managed mid field or better in the individual details, which surprised me, I got very lucky, & placed 18th in the Heavy Varmint Grand Agg results, the extremely unpredictable wind changed the game, much like rain at Bathurst.

The Aussies won the over all competition edging out the USA, the results are here http://www.nzdanelson.co.nz/wbr2017.html

I met a great bunch of Guys, I'm really looking forward to catching up with them again at WBC 15 in Canada July 2019, lots of practice to be done before then though

They remeasured it & double would be 0.92

An Aussie shot a world record in the 200LV, he shot a 0.160 which was remeasured at 0.138, the world record was 0.184

Outstanding shooting, its credit to attention to detail in every aspect. What so of cals were used, andhow is it measured center to center, inner, or outer.

Everyone was shooting 6PPC, a lot of the serious guys make their own projectiles, most guys were using VV N133.

With 65-68 grain projectiles zipping along at 33-3500 fps.

Groups are measured centre to centre expressed in thousands of an inch, thou

There are two classes, Light Varmint (LV) up to 10.5 lbs & Heavy Varmint (HV) up to 13.5 lbs all up.

You have 7 minutes to shoot 5 shots on the score target, as many as you like on the sighter, 5 times over for LV & HV at 100 & 200 yards, so a total of 20 groups.

The LV & HV totals are added up & averaged to get the LV & HV Grand Agg, then added together & averaged to get the 2 Gun Grand Agg, this is the overall winner.

The group sizes at 200 are halved to make that work.

It is strangely addictive, you can shoot a tiny tiny group then Nek Minit a massive one........ with the same load & seemingly similar conditions.

That is seriously small grouping. Well done Greg, you'd have to be pretty damned chuffed with those results.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!

The conditions were extreme for shooting, when you hear "names" saying they would be delighted to be able to shoot a 5 (0.5") at 200 you realise everyone is struggling.
