    What am I doing wrong???

    In the last month I have shot my 338 Edge a bit at 100 yards and have found that my point of impact has been moving around. It was originally zeroed perfectly for 100 yards, but often it will shoot low and sometimes to the left (1-1.5 inches), then every now and then back at zero. The rifle is a custom build by KG and we have both shot some pretty impressive groups with it, so I don't think it's the rifle. I'm assuming it's to do with how I am controlling the rifle under recoil.

    I shot the 6 shot group the other day. The first 3 shots went low and to the left(I pulled one) - I was using a harris bipod (with podlock/spikes) and an accupod in place of a rear bag and I felt it was bouncing a bit so I took it off. I then shot the last 3 shots off a rear bag and POI came to the right and up.

    I've watched @Norway s DVD which I thought was really good. Given that I am left handed, am I 'pushing rifle forward with shoulder' or 'pulling grip or trigger' or......???

    Bench rest it, bagged front and rear with a big bag behind the butt so you don't lose it when you touch it off. No body contact other than trigger finger. No palm, nothing, just trigger finger. If it don't group, the bedding has let go, or your load has gone awry.
    10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.

    I would also get someone else to shoot it at the same time. If you say you and kg have shot good groups, maybe your anticipating the recoil and developed a flinch?

    As these 2 groups were shot with different rear rests, I would suggest throwing the rear monopod in the bin and shooting again, with the rear bag, concentrating on your basics.

    Make sure you're loading the bipod evenly and not too hard (I think the spikes are a rubbish product), straight behind the rifle, no muscle tension, consistent position, natural point of aim

    I'm with gimp throw the mono pod away........for ever.
    Its is obviously something two do with body position, @Norway may be able two tell you.
    As long as its behaving at range who cares what it does at 100, I have a rifle that would group like that at 100 and yet do sub 3 inch groups at 700 all day long
    hope you sort it soon.

    That won't help him shoot. Natural point of aim or more consistent pressure on the bipod or something

    I could be loading the bipod up too hard and possibly not evenly - I find it uncomfortable to keep my shoulders square with the rifle.

    Can someone explain natural point of aim to me?

    Problem found!!



    Natural point of aim = rifle naturally resting with point of aim on the target, when in shooting position. No muscle required to be on target.


    Bipod spikes allow too much bipod pressure to be exerted by people who don't understand why they're leaning into it, and allow cross-tension to build up easily if making adjustments in position without lifting the bipod
